Default Am I been over charged by the dealer?

Hi guys, my engine light was on, so I took it to my friend's repair shop, they suggest me to go to the dealer, coz they can't find what's wrong with it.

I took it to AUDI dealer, 1st, I got charged by $175 for just look at the problem. Then I got a Quote from them to fix the problem:

Mass Air Flor sensor: Parts: $138.68 Labor: $69.00
Spark Plugs Parts: $61.62 Labor: $115.00
Temp Sending Unit Parts: $39.35 Labor: $115.00
Hoses(Vacuum) Parts: $11.86 Labor: $115.00

Am I been over charged by them? or this is right, if there anywhere else I can get these things to be replace at a lower price?

Thank you for your help!

they always charge a lot.you can do spark plugs, maf sensor, and prob vac hoses yourself.thing is if they had it open to find the prob, they could have fixed it then, sounds like they want to double charge you for reopening area for vacuum prob.could you tell us the codes and what they said vacuum leak was.thanks.

you should have asked for a copy of the codes they got which after all you paid $175 for "expensive that is" for starters, I cant understand why they need to change all those things "the codes would help" how the hell can you diagnose a bad spark plug without taking it out sounds dodgy to me

i will ad,nice dealers prob. did'nt tell you temp sender could be attributed to vacuum leak.does it go to normal temp. then drop to cold?.i'd hold off on changing that.if they think you yhink there is a prob. with it,it's an easy job they get a lot of money for.

I agree there, problem with the dealers is they replace every thing because they cant really find a simple answer so they are being over sure at your expense that's how the dealers rape your wallet

The MAF sensor is under warranty until 80k miles. Spark plugs are about $42 if you get the NGK platinums from Advance auto parts and they take maybe 10 minutes to change. I paid $5.95 for the temp sensor for my car from ecstuning.com. The vacuum hoses are cheap too and easy to change. I am assuming you have a 1.8T

0455 large leak evap.1426-fuel tank vent valve circuit open.did they show it to you?or are they guessing it's a hose and not the valve itself.i'm not familiar with 1426.i got a 2.8 also.where are you at,somebody in your area should know where to go but we need a starting point.

i'm not much help there cuz i'm in southern california.where did they say the vent valve is?.is your car acting up?if not, dump the dealer until you get more options.if the vent valve is purge valve it's on top of your air filter housing.easy to change.
