Default air conditioning

I have a really silly question. I have a used 2003 Audi A4 3.0Q and I don't know how to turn on the air conditioning (no owner's manual ...). Right now, I have it on "auto" and have turned the temperature all the way down to "Low". I would think that's all I need to do, but the air doesn't seem to get cold. Is there something else I need to do, or is my A/C busted?

Thanks!

Yep, that's all you need to do. Make sure the ECON button isn't illuminated and it should be pumping out teh cold air when set to low. You have a problem if not. That's all I can contribute.

just set the climate control to whatever degree you want it to be in the car 70* for instance, and the computer does all the rest.

Thanks for the responses! I took a look at the car, and for some reason when I hit the "econ" button, it always stays illuminated. I'm assuming this means I have a problem--just wanted to make sure .

Thanks!

What I do so that the air condition doesnt turn on full blast on a hot summer day, is from the "off" state, is simply press the "+" this turns on the air in a semi manual state. If the previous state was full blast from "Auto" then it will turn on full blast, if it does just press "-" until you hit your desired setting (I like mine at one bar or the lowest setting) and thats where it run. Mine does a great job of colling me down at the lowest setting with minimal impact on mpg. And any subsequent starts of the A/C will begin at that low state. The reason I say "semi manual" is becuase if for instance you need to cool down quicker and you raise the power to say 3 or 4 bars then the A/C will cool you down then slowly go back to that lowest setting to keep you comfortable automatically! I don't think doing it that way corresponds to the temperature setting, it seems to be more of a timed thing.

Also I'm sure you've already figured this out but just in case, "Econ" simply means fan mode.

Weird. Well, if you have already hit the auto button and set the temp to low, the econ button should be switchable on (not illuminated) and off (illuminated). If it refuses to be turned on (not illuminated), there is indeed a problem.

If the ECON is stuck on, you'll need to recharge with R134a.
