air box mod vs. cone intake
As you can read from the title, that's my question...
I understand that performance as in hp is VERY minimal from these... but when I use the word performance here I mostly mean decrease.
Yes, I've been seraching around alot on both of these. I currently have a cone intake and am looking at getting one of those custom heat sheilds from the az guy. However, I was thinking which one is actually better for performance and sound? I understand that unless the heat sheild is really good (which I hear the az one is) then a cone intake decreases your performance. While the stock air box is actually pretty good, and gettinga drop in k&n does pretty well but doesn't have the sound of a cone. I've thought about doing the air box mod to my car, but am not 100% into drillingmy wheel well.
Basically I want to have a deeper sound on my car, and am planning on getting the forge007 for the psssshhhh sound.
Thoughts and recommendationsplease!?!?

id stick with the cone and heat shield. ull get more noteable noise. but...do part of the airbox mod. cut into teh fender well like in the airbox mod. you will hear it a whole lot more. and the forge wont get u the total bov kinda PSHHHHH but ull get a more noteable diverter valve noise

Screw it... I had the box mod, and most recently a cone intake. I swithced back to the stock intake/airbox because I felt loss of power and the noise became obnoxious.

RE: air box mod vs. cone intake
its alot more quiet than just a cone filter. With the cone filter your engine is louder, you hear a sucking air sound, and the pshhh sound from your DV when you let off the gas. IMO I like the cone better than the box mod.

I think you are SMART.
Nice to see someone who cares more about performance that appearance/sound.
