Default Aiming Xenons

So I replaced my original xenon bulbs yesterday but now they aren't aimed correctly. Currently they direct 90% of the light only about 1ft away from the front bumper! So I tried playing with the adjustment screws but that doesn't seem to do a thing. When going from one extreme of the screw to the other it only raises the light about 6 inches when I'm 15ft from a wall.

I looked at a how to and it told me to go through Vag-Com but when I go to module 55 for Xenon -> 07 for recode and enter in a different number then click "do it" it doesn't change the coding. I see the vagcom screen goes and gives me these two messages, "leu cht wei ter" along the top left and "egler d004" on the right.

I spent almost an hour playing with both vagcom and the manual screws and I still can't seem to get the light brought up. What am I doing wrong??

Did you replace all four T-30 screws?
Align the high beams.Make sure the metal
conductor is at 6 o'clock when installing
the HID bulbs.

I didn't take the housings out, I just did it all from the back of the headlights. I can't see back inside the headlight assembly so I'm not sure if the "metal conductor" is at 6 but I put the bulbs back in so that the actual socket is in the same position as they came out.
