So my question is this:

I just got my car (97 a4 2.8 quattro) and it has the stock head unit in it, with only a tape deck and am/fm. Sucks eh? It does have the 'upgrade' of a bose system, which is crap by my word, but whatever. I want to know if there is a hope for me to keep the integration of the head unit with the dashboard if i get an after market head unit (where it tells you the radio station and artist, etc. in the dashboard above the mpg reading).

I doubt it, cuz i lost similar activity in my past car (acura) and have no hope for this, but i figure i'd ask and see if anyone has had any experience with this. Thanks all.

Nope - if you lose your HU, then the dash integration is lost.
