Default ABS over-reacting

I have a 1998 A4 2.8 and recently the ABS is kicking in any time I brake firmly at low speed turning left, e.g turning into a parking space. I just had the dealership look at it and they simply said that until a light comes on the dashboard, there's nothing they can do!!! Surely there's a more sensible solution??

Take the wheels off and spray some brake cleaner on the sensors and make sure that the sensor disks that are pressed into the rotors are gunked up and are completely pressed into the rotors and not coming out. The abs sensor discs get corroded and can deteriorate which can cause you abs to kick on when not needed. Its also possible that your abs control unit is going bad. THey tend to give symptoms before you get a warning light when they start to go bad.

You could have a worse case scenario lke me and have to replace your outer CV joint... my ABS ring is chipped but i can live with no ABS.

Sure, unplug the computer, clip the wire going to an ABS sensor. Both those methods work, but you'll have dash lights
