Default About to buy a used 2005 A4 ADVICE NEEDED

Hi All!

I am brand new to audiforums. I currently am driving a 2001 A6 2.7T and am about to try and purchase a 2005 A4 2.0T. I am buying from a private seller and wanted to know what kind of checks I should do on the car when I go see it on Sunday. Also, the car has ~37,000 miles, was his second car, and I am looking at $13,000 as the current price. Does that seem reasonable? Any suggestions or advice before I go see the car on Sunday is appreciated. We have already agreed if we can meet on price and I like the car, I will be purchasing it the following Sunday. Thanks for the help everyone!

hi man,

iv'e just bought a 2006 a4 and these are the checks i did before buying the car.
first of all go around the body work looking for dints and scratches,
Look at the door seals make sure all of the ling up perfectly same with the gaps between all doors.
before turning the engine on open the bonet and check the dip stick for mustard colours on the dipstick. Also open the oil cap and check under the cap to make sure it doesn't have any mustard colours again (if there is any mustard colours this may mean a headgasket has glown which can cost a lot of money to repair).
turn the engine on and ref the engine listen for any knocks and ticks, also rev the engine and look for black smoke coming out of the exhaust (if there is the turbo is on it's way out)

when you see the car treat it how you would treat it like it's your own car, even if its slamming pressing and driving like an idiot.

Make sure the car has a full M.O.T history and also service. That car with 37k on the clock wont need a cam/timing belt untill 60-80k miles on the clock.

You're more than welcome.
Make sure the car is everything you need, if you didn't buy the car next time bring someone along with you (generally a mechanic to check the car out)
