A4 Trunk button

A4 Trunk button
Here's a question for you. I'm a new owner of a 2003 Audi A4 and I cannot imagine the switch in the driver's door pocket to be broken but...The trunk release in the door, how does it work? Both of the key fobs work fine for the remote release, however, the door button will not open the trunk. I've clicked it, I've pulled it and held it for a few seconds and nothing. Is it a wireless system that needs to be reprogrammed or do I need to check something else?
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: A4 Trunk button
I'll stab at this one. I just got an '04 A4 Cabrio Quattro and i'm still learning the ropes.
The trunk switch appears to be completely electric. Even the "button" on the trunk is nothing more than an electric switch. Does that operate the mechanism or not? If it does, then I'd guess you have a problem with the switch on the door. If it doesn't then I'd lean more toward an internal electrical glitch. The remotes have nothing to do with it and there's nothing to reprogram in the car. I haven't even thought about trying to find an electrical schematic! Thankfully, our car is a certified used with another 3 or 4 years still on the warranty.
Good luck.

RE: A4 Trunk button
Heh. I didn't even know there was a button. I've never used it.
Why would you? If the car's unlocked, you simply lift the trunk up, and it opens.
I don't think I've even ever used the trunk button on the keyfob either. All I do is unlock the car, and the trunk is open.

RE: A4 Trunk button
Hey Rober D.I thinkI can help you out with this oneI had the same problem with mine not to long ago and when i recently took my car in for service the dealer told me its just a saftey feature, if its the same problem i had. My key fob worked but the button inside just stoped working for no reason. The A4 has sort of a "valet" mode for the trunk, what you need to do is check to see if the key slot is turned all the way to the right like in the first picture, and if it is turn it to the center like the second picture and you should be all set, go inside and try the button!!!
