A4 Symphony Bose speakers
My front speakers on my 00 A4 are seemingly in good condition, yet when powered up they sound like the station is not quite tuned in. The rears sound fine but the fronts, even when playing a CD, sound like crap. Any fix sugestions? Thanks

RE: A4 Symphony Bose speakers
Depends on how loud you are turning them... the amps don't give them much power dude, so it doesn't take much before they start to distort. Get a bigger amp, and you'll likely fix the problem. They are good speakers -- that aren't getting enough power.
EDIT: and are you sure you have BOSE? I don't think the symphony uses bose... there are two stereos in our cars... Symphony, and Bose. Separate. But who knows... that is just on my 2000.

RE: A4 Symphony Bose speakers
You need to isolate the problem. Since the rears sound OK, start by testing the front speaker elements themselves. A rubbing voice coil will generate the type of distortion you describe. The appropriate repair is replacement, as reconing rarely makes economic sense on a small speaker.
