Which A4 Model Year to buy used?
I'm looking mostly at the B6 and B7 models, but I heard bad things about their CVTs. B8s are a little too expensive for me right now.
If you could do it over again, which model year would you buy and why?

Willkommen to the forums!
definitely steer clear of the CVTs. A lot of people that have them are quite happy unfortunately, if/when the CVT fails, you are pretty much done unless you are willing to spend "new car" money for repairs.
as for what else, I guess it depends on your initial budget and then what you are looking to spend for routine maintenance. We have a bunch of members with B5s that are doing quite well with ~250K miles. It bears mentioning that a lot of those are "car guys" that do all of their own maintenance and stay on top of any issues their cars are having.
there is also a lot to be said for considering how well the vehicle was cared for by the previous owner(s). A poorly cared for vehicle is a bad bet regardless of make, model, or mileage.
spend some time reading the forums and you will surely get a good idea of what you might be in the market for. Definitely make sure you take your time. don't spend money on anything you feel uncomfortable or unsure about
good luck
