Default A4 Electrical Problems

Ok here we go, I have a 99 A4 1.8 SE, about 6 months ago the battery was flat, charged it up ok, left it a couple of days and flat again, garage charged me £380 for new alternator, now it's doing the same again if you leave it 2-3 days the battery goes flat, any ideas ?

You probably just need a new battery. I had the same problem. Basically the battery won't hold a charge. Once it's up and running it's fine as the alternator keeps it charged. If that fixes it, I would ask for the labor fees back from the garage. They should have checked that.

Nah, already got a new battery same problem, 2-3 days and it's flat, it has been suggested that the alarm could be draining it ?

my borther had the same problem with his 01 a4. He took it to the dealer and they found out it was some wire somewhere around the battery. make sure you check all that stuff or take it to a show/dealer

also if you tried to jump it, it would start right away, but then it would die if you left it off for a while.

hope that helps

Read a post recently concerning battery problems. Ultimately the person found the stereo was draining the battery. Unfortunately I can't remember any specifics.
