A4 B6 1.8T Low oil, but no leaks?
Hi folks
I wonder if any of you folks have expierenced this.
I have a recently purchased 2004 Audi A4 Avant, 1.8T Sline. I got it cheap but it did need some TLC as while it was mechanically sound, it hadn't had the consumable parts changed in quite a while. £2000 later all seems to be going well.
This morning on the way to work I got the MIN Oil caution on the computer. Bearing in mind I recently did a full oil change, replacing the oil for Castrol Edge, and popping on a genuine Audi Oil filer, I found this surprising, I thought it might be a rouge warning.
Once I got to work I thought for peace of mind I'd check the dip stick and it turns out there is only dregs of oil in there. So of course at lunch time I will go and buy some more and top up.
But there doesn't seem to be any oil leaks. I haven't noticed any pools on my drive or in my parking spot at work. Furthermore the car has been seen by both Audi main dealers and an independant garage for repairs and none of them have spotted an oil leak. Its been with them for long periods of time, especially when the Thermostat got replaced as it was leaking coolant. The car has lost the better part of 4 liters in 2 months so any leak surely would have been very noticeable.
And I did check the emmisions from the exhaust and they appear to be normal, not excessive smokey, nor does it smell of burnt oil.
Your help is welcomed.
