Anyone have the step-by-steps on changing the ATF oil and filter on 1997 AudiA4 automatic
in confused on some descriptions aobut 2holes ... 1 for filling oil and 2 for checking leverl of oil
i would be wery happy if any1 send me some pictures and description.
about temp oil, temp engine, engine on / off when.......thanx
i wrote this becaouse friend and me change oil on my A4 and after chhanging getribe dont change gears good.
so i must change again ( maybe wrong temperature on changing ).
Procedure was make...
1. could car.
2. eject old oil from getribe
3. open carter and get old filter out
4. wash carter and put new filter.
..............
now we make something wrong, think.
..............
5. fill carterwith oil and we put full oiled carter on his place on car and turn on car. (we fill carter with oil becaouse of fear of turn on car with getribe carter empty)
6. find some hole on getribe on uper side and fill it with oil wery slow
7. when oil stop to go in getribe , we stop.
8. done


After this car go to change wery strange.
i think that car need more time and gas for changing gear ( before changing faster ) and car start to get more fuel.
before 6,5l EURODIESEL now 8L
I have A3 automatic also and this getribe is very good, so im fraid for my A4.

Please give me some instructions for repait this mestake.

carter? getribe? what language are you speaking?
You have to fill the ATF through the large fill hole - to the top of the lip. The car needs to be running at a specific temperature to be perfectly correct.

Do a search - this has been covered before.

this is EUROPEAN AUDI A4 19Tdi 1997 110PS
Vagcom read : 01N927733CN AG4 getribe 01N 3815

on this model dont have large hole for filling ATF only
small hole on bottom pan and some pipe ( for filling i hope) by side of pan.
Dont know how many liters of ATF must fill in and where to check owerfill.

My mechanic just removed the ATF cooler lines on the radiator. He then pumped out the fluid and put in the same amount through the return line.
