A4 1.8T discontinued?
I am about to buy a new 2005 A4 1.8T. I currently live in Costa Rica and I do not know if the cars here are similar to those of Germany or the US. I have been doing research before I buy the car (since the price here for the car is much more expensive than in the US) and I have seen that the Multitronic 2005 1.8T (which I am planning on buying) in some websites (ie autos.yahoo.com) says that the model is discontinued. I am wondering if anyone thinks this is a good buy or if I am getting myself in more trouble if this model is discontinued and i assume production stopped worldwide.
My other question is that the salespersons here have given me different answers to my question of "is the car front wheel drive or rear wheel drive" since I have received both answers but I was under the impression that all audi's, regardless of year or model, were either front wheel drive or AWD.
Thanks.....great forum site by the way!!

RE: A4 1.8T discontinued?
Umm, by getting a 1.8T you should be able to swing a deal, since the b6 (2002 - 2005) has been replaced by the b7 platform (2005.5+).
All audi's are predominantly front wheel drive, and quattro is obviously all wheel drive.
I wouldnt worry about the fact that the 1.8T has been axed from the audi lineup... the parts supply will never be an issue while we own our cars.
Oh, and we cant tell you if its a good buy, if you dont give us a price

go for it, people love their 1.8T, The new body style (B7) now has the same engine but bigger known as teh 2.0T. Parts wont be a problem becaus ethey will continue making them b/c of the amount of ppl that have them.

It's late to give my comment, but i live in México an i am very happy with mi 1.8t multitronic. I did research an i know that the 1.8t is very popular an there are a lot in all the world (jettas, golf, a3, a4, a6,skoda,saharan, seat, etc, etc). That means no troble with the parts, an gives you an idea of the reliability of the engine.

This thread is obviously a joke. 2 newbies joining in on the same thread, both first posts... good try, but f*(k this, I'm going to go port out my intake manifold with some sand-blasting media. Thanks admins... and a 1.8T in 2005? C'mon... no one from Costa Rica spells that well in English. Even dat new kid wit da new 20-inch rimz can't spell.
