A4 1.8 96 Auto gearbox
Hi All.
My Audi was changing gear way too quickly, so Audi suggested it could be that I needed a gearbox oil change. So I booked it it and did this, plus the filter, not at the audi garage but a normal guys garage where we can afford the bills. This made no difference to the quick gear changing but now between 1700 and 2400 RPM the RPM's jump occasionally up approx 200RPM then back down again, giving a bit of a lumpy ride. It turned out the the quick gear changing was due to a water damaged gearbox ECM, now replaced! How ever this "slipping" is still there. Kick down is fine as is driving over 2400 RPM, it pulls really well, the car hasnt gone more than 50K miles. Anyone any idea's? The garage used original Audi gearbox oil, but is it possible the could have put in the wrong gearbox filter? If so what would the effects be?
