ok I disconnected the battery to clean the terminals and hooked them back up after about a minute. Now the damn thing won't start. It turns over fine but I can really smell gas, the plugs were wet, I cleaned them and reinstalled them and it still just cranks over and over and over......????

 

Sounds like you're not getting any spark. Do you know how old the coil packs are?

 

not sure, the damn thing ran fine before I did the whole battery issue.

yeah, I even check all the fuses thinking mybe Iblew one but they are all ok.

 

I'm stumped. 1.8 or 2.8?

 

Weeeiiird. Throttle body alignment?
I don't know of an out-of-whack throttle body ever inhibiting the car from starting, though...

 

What engine, what year? Read codes and post them.

 

I'd pull the codes and post them back here. Could be a problem with the ECU.

 

Hi.. I have a 1998 Audi A4 and I have the same issue > Disconnected the battery for like a minute and reconnected again, then the car wouldn't start. The engine cranks but does not start.
I do not have any Code reader tool. I contacted an Audi technician, he said: "proabably the computer change to SAFE Mode which doesn't allow the car to start and that I need to have it reset and suggested me to bring it to the dealer".
I can't bring the car to the dealer if the car can't start. Any suggestions?
