Sounds to me like u may have a blown engine. I have a '98 1.8t, and I had the same problem a few months ago. The car just cut off while i was driving and wouldn't turn back on. About an hour later, i was able to start it again, but that was the last time. The '97 to I believe '99 a4's have what Audi calls an oil sludge problem which causes a lubrication failure in the engine. They extended the warranty to 100,000 miles(which you've already passed; I luckily made it at 97,000). The catch is u need maintenance records up until the engine failure, which could be difficult for those of us who bought used. I suggest towing it in and getting it checked, if it is a blown engine, look forward to spending LOTS of money.

I have had blown engines in the past but I could not turn them over so thats why I am not sure about that. If it is a engine I will prob sell as a repairable because it's just too much for me to invest in a car with this kind of mileage. Getting it towed to shop tomorrow. Will have to cross my fingers.[&o]
