97 A4 1.8T low oil light on won't start Please Help!
Well I was driving and the low oil light came on and the car died out. Waited a few minutes and the car started back up and I drove another 10 miles. The oil level is not low so I'm wondering if there is a safety sensor or? that is malfunctioning? Strange part is this just came on after replacing the rear wheel bearing. Any help greatly appreciated as the car is sitting in the church parking lot and I need it for school all week. Thanks

This is never a good sign. The post says '74 a4 1.8t, so i'm going to assume that is is a'97 a4 1.8t. How many miles are on the car? have you checked the engine for sludge? Has the oil been changed at regular intervals? Changing the rear wheel bearing has nothing to do w/ this problem, it's a new problem.

Yes it's a 97 A4 with 150k on the clock. The car was running perfect up until this light came on. I do not know any of the maintenence history which is a real bummer. The oil level was full and clean as if it were change recently. My question is will the low oil sensor not allow the car to run or have I done damage already? Thanks

Was the engine running ok while the light was on? Shaking or anything? The car will not shut off the engine because of a low oil light, that would be the drivers responsibilty.

im pretty sure our cars dont have an oil low light (mine doesnt and its a 2.8l) it does on the other hand have an oil pressure light so im going to assume that you have a pressure problem.

No other lights are on except the abs and brake light which came on after installing the rear wheel bearing. Anyway just the oil light comes on and after this happened the car started up and would just slowly idle down and die out. Waited a few minutes and it started and was driving normal again. Now the car just turns over but will not fire. Any suggestions on what I should check out first? I talked to the previous owner and they said that the car would die out once in a while while sitting at idle or warming up so I am wondering if this is what has been going on but the oil light throws me off track??????
