96 Jetta with 1.8T AEB Trans Questions

Hey whats up, My Name is Darrin im new here but am experianced in the automotive field, i manage a shop and am a master tech. My friend has a 96 Jetta with a 1.8T AEB engine swap'd into it, he is running a new 2.0 transmission in it but is having nothing but problems with the transmission. i want to swap a transmission with a hydraulic setup into it its front wheel drive any good suggestions? i have a DHW transmission that i am thinking about picking up but i dont know if that is the best choice i know vw's and audi's pretty good but this car is frankenstined togeather and i just want to make it good to go with no problems it boots out but pretty good @ 18lbs of boost on the stock turbo but the trans sucks and cant take the power, eventually we will up grade the turbo but i need something that will hold up. any input on this situation would be greatly appriciated.
