How do I know if my A4 has keyless entry ? I bought it used last week and am already tired of using the key to lock and unlock the doors. I got the part down of turning the key twice to lock and unlock the doors. Can I get a key programmed for the car if I have keyless entry installed ? If not, can anyone recommend a good keyless entry system to install ? Thanks guys !!!

PS What are the two buttons on the center console next to the left seat warmer ? They look light a fog light or running light toggle button of some sort. What are they ??

 

You need to remove the back seat. It just pulls up with a little force. Under the seat look for a metal box. That will tell you if you have the remote locking ability. If it is not there, then you will need to go aftermarket.

Buttons should be:

Seat heater, Front fogs, Rear fog, Rear defrost, Hazard, Seat heater.

 

i'm in the process of using a write-up on aw for my 96, and my wiring is different. i'm not even going to begin to explain all the differences, suffice it to say, i'm completely lost. there are about 5-6 wires coming off the valet reciever i got, as well as four wires coming off the car's harness that aren't listed. i've connected all the listed wires, and nothing on this remote works. i'm not an idiot, so it's not just me being dumb here. turbokid, i would STRONGLY recommend taking it to a shop and letting them handle it. that write-up is worthless imo.

i just called directed electronics and they told me they only offer installation manuals to authorized installers. so basically after about an hour of installation, i'm back where i started, my key still works to set the alarm, but the remote doesn't work. anyone work at an audio shop that can get me one?????????

 

just in case any of you guys know electronics.....i know the electronics forum doesn't get much love.

jest, thanks for your help on this. it's turning into a f$#king nightmare. i just spent all morning soldering the relays into the system and i still get both turn signals blinking. for now i just disconnected the lights from the reciever, so they work ok. i'm just going to take it into a shop i think. i can't figure out what the hell i'm doing wrong.......

 

if there is a a little black squar on the piece right behind the drivers side window it is a 1/2 inch square towards the lower part of the car that is how you can tell. and to program you just go to any audi dealer and they will do it for you in like a few minutes.
