is 8.5 too wide?

RE: is 8.5 too wide?
Just to chime in.... wheel width is very significant, but so is the offset. I'm at 35mm offset right now, and I can't even fit my index finger in the gap between the tire and the upper ctrl arm?.... In addition, if you stretch 225 to fit on 8.5", doesn't that stiffen up your sidewalls a lot more? Of course, in many cases, this is a good thing. I opted to go 17X8 on 235 because I make frequent trips to NYC, and I need some cushion in the tires. also, they protect your wheels better Of course, my tire radius because a tiny bit larger... [&:] Lastly, forged wheels is always the way to go, IMO...

Check out reviews on the Toyo Proxes-4. One of the best all-season tires with quite a few of us using them atm. Good wet/dry drip, not much sound feedback, and doesnt wear fast

I have 19x8.5 with 235/35/19 on sport with no problem. Even when I have a car full of people + full tank of gas I don't rub, from the side the tire is hidden in the fender.

I like toyo tires, the proxes 4 as well as the T1-S or R... but I just found that their prices went up and up.

That is crazy... I was running 235/45/17's and would rub, once I lowered the car. The rears would never rub, but when turning the fronts would, as I rolled over bumps at speed. I got rid of my 235's and went to 225's, and I'm now much better.
