Default is 8.5 too wide?

Im looking at 18 x 8.5 ASA JH8 wheels. Will they look right or are they too wide for a B5?

Also, if anyone knows a good choice of tire to go with that would be great. Thanks.

I bet you could find lots of info on this subject if you searched hard enough...

thanks, looks like the 18 x 8.5 will be fine, even if I decide to lower it down the road. Now I just need to pick out a good tire.

Thanks for not getting offended from my advice. I bet you feel 100X smarter now too. If you dont have the stock sport suspension, id really recomend doing the suspension first or the wheel gap will take a lot away from the coolness of the wheels... At least the stock wheels wont look so bad if its lowered first.

Yeah 8.5 should be fine man, just get a 225 series tire... 225/40/18 and you're golden.
As for tires, I always recommend the Avon tires from tirerack... But I just traded in my uber expensive firestone firehawk SZ50EP tires for a set of General Exclaim UHP tires... and honestly, I love them. They are quiet, look great, handle really well, have awesome treadwear ratings... and were cheaaaap!!! I recommend them as well! Let us know what you go with.

Go to tirerack and check out the reviews and comparison tests. I think the Avons are the best value.

I still can't believe this tire is rated # 1 in that category... look at it's competition! The successor to my old SZ50EP firehawks is called the wide oval... and it placed 2nd in the survey, while my new Generals placed 1st. Craaaaaaazy! I do love 'em though!

It looks way better on the car... I didn't like the tread in pictures, but I think it looks badass on the car, from behind. :P
