IMO Tweeter is a good place to purchase your audio equipment. Its def better than circuit city or best by. Anyhow i got a hell of a deal from a friend. (check the sig) All for 500$ no wires though. BTW install it your self. Its too easy to do and not worth 100$ To my knowlede JL amps price never drop signifantly. Ebay will have a cheaper price, but now a days its now "that much cheaper".

Go Rockford Fosgate all the way, and just buy a really good 12 from them, like a Punch p2 series and you will be set. My friend just got 2 JBL 12s and my 1 Rockford sub kills in sound, loudness, clarity, etc. Best thing you can get for your money.

Grr, rockford fosgate isnt as good as JL in my opinion... low end rockford does not compare with low end JL. The high end rockford, like the HX2's are tight, but I dont think they are any better than W6's. They do have nice amps though, the power series stuff is great. I put a 250.1 power series in my girlfriends car, along with a rockford 10... I ended up dumping the rockford sub for an alpine type R (which is a cheap sub, but improved sound over the rockford).
In your budget, I'd say get a 500/1, and the best sub you can afford after that. If you dont listen to crazy bassy music, and wouldnt want to upgrade later... get a JL 250/1, and a good sub, like a 10W6, and high quality wires (dont skimp on RCA's), and you'll have very clear punchy bass. a 250/1 will not sufficiently power two subs though, so if you'd plan on a 2nd sub later, get the 500/1.
before anybody objects, a 250 will make sound out of 2 subs, but it'd be crap. If your happy with mediocre, you could go that route. Im an advocate of quality, over quantity though.

if you go to http://www.crutchfield.com/ and you find what you want and go to Cartoys they have to match there price, my friend saved 400 bucks because of this.
even though i hate cartoys so much i could burn down every single one.
