3.0 vs. 1.8 T

RE: 3.0 vs. 1.8 T
power comes down to one thing burning fuel. the 3.0 burns more fuel. every mod that one can do to a 1.8t can be done to a 3.0, there are boost kits that are going to be soon available (turbo and supercharge) or build your own, that will crank up hp to levels that 1.8t's will struggle too keep up with. there arent alot of off the shelf mods for 3.0 because the average owner doesnt need to make it faster just to be competitive with its class. i own a 2003 1.8t jetta and a 2002 3.0 a4 so please dont think im being partial. the 1.8t has its high points, namely price and ease of modification. i am all about building touring cars not dragsters and my weapon of choice between the 2 would be the 3.0, not knocking the 1.8t but the 3.0 will make more hp with obviously more money invested. ive seen alot of 1.8t's modded out there the fastest i personally seen was making 433 to the front wheels but also gave a ton of problems, something was always breaking but that car is fast. the pes supercharger kit with no other mods would put out 315 hp. now if you lower compression and added more boost and maybe exhaust and some porting the 3.0 should definately be faster.
bottom line is, it comes down to money if you got it, 3.0. if not 1.8t. and please im not trying to say 1.8t owners are broke but it is a cheaper car to get and mod. and 3.0 cost more in about every category.
my i.8t is bone stock and i usually have my g/f drive it but of all the friends i have with 1.8t's my car has never broken down and alot of them are on 2nd motors because of mods.
but that just my two cents

Yeah, so the supercharged 3.0 will make 315 hp... you can make a reliable 315 horse 1.8T as well, since we're talking crank hp for the PES right? The 1.8T will always be lighter, too. Stock for stock, the 3.0 wins... and unless your mod budget is HUGE, the 1.8T wins in every other category -- unless you get into "noise" or something.

No dyno's yet, much clutch cant hold more than 16psi, so I have never really experienced full potential. I did manage to hang with my roomates modded wrx, on the way home from his dyno tune where he made around270whp, he was at 20psi i was at 17. Here's the Video, and heres his dyno.
