why does the 2006 Volkswagen Passat 3.6 have a more powerful engine then the more expensive audi a4
that doesnt seem rite unless audi is gonna up the engine in the V6 A4

Volkswagen Passat 3.6 = 280 hp and 265 lb-ft
Audi A4 3.2 = 255 hp and 243 lb-ft

 

I think VW are trying to bring their cars more into the BMW, Audi, and merc class, especially with the new Passat. Maybe they feel that they need to have the good stuff in the VW's, to give them a wee stepping stone to get there?

It won't. badge snobbery will stop it long before its looks, etc, will. People aren't willing to spend that cash on a VW, when they can get a merc, or a Beemer. Badge snobbery does my nut in, but it can't be helped.

But just cant see why someone would pay sooo much for a VW .

I've seen a few Phatons on the road big mistake by VW the ones I have seen have been demos from VW dealers trying to put some milage on them so they can sell them a bit cheaper than the 100k price

 

Yeah but you have to love that big turbo diesel engine. What is that thing a 12 cylinder 500hp or something absurd.
