2006 A4 2.0T - air filter questions
Our 2006 A4 is approaching 30K miles, so I wanted to change out the air filter. I purchased a K&N air filter, but now have some concerns. Looking through this forum and other forums, it seems the K&N filter is a controversial subject for A4s. I haven't opened it yet, so I may return it. Questions:
- If you are using using the K&N with your 2.0T, are you having any issues?
- If not K&N, then what is the recommended air filter?
- How the hell do you chg the air filter? I wanted to see the condition of the current air filter, but where I think it is located(passenger side) is hardly accessible.
Thanks,
-PJ

RE: 2006 A4 2.0T - air filter questions
When i took a trip over to Stasis engineeringover here by infineon raceway they were running both thier 2.0T A4 and A3 with K&N cone filters equipped on them. They said they just washed the filter of all the oil before installing the filters on the engines and haven't had any problems, but on the down side the filter doesn't work as good when there is no oil in it so your risking getting more garbage into the motor.
I would just keep the stock filter equipped, plus they really don't need to be changed until you get to about 60k.
