Sometimes during the day the gages can be hard to read. I mentioned this to my dealer while it was in for service and they say (just) the gages should be lit during the day (without turning the lights on), but they couldn't figure out how to make them come on (didn't know the code he said). It was a Saturday, so they couldn't get Audi tech support on the phone and wanted me to bring it back during the week. I don't want to waste a day with my car in service for nothing, so I called another dealer and they say 'no' that's not possible. I checked the manual and it says only the needles are lit during the day. Anyone know for sure? Thanks!

For what it's worth, only my needles are illuminated without the headlights being activated - not the gauge faces...
