I'm looking to get one of the two, what would you guys suggest. The main concern between the cars is reliability. Do s4's with around 60,000 miles on them tend to have a lot of problems? A k04 upgrade would be in the plans with the a4, i know the turbos on the s4 would eventually need to be replaced. I'm just not sure if it would be worth it to just go ahead and get an s4, and put full exhaust with downpipes on it and be satisfied with the power, or to get an a4 and do a k04 upgrade along with everything else needed. Both would equal around the same price. I don't want to have to deal with things going wrong with the car all of the time. Let me know what you guys think, thanks!

I'm a fan of the B6 body style, and there are a ton of companies out there that put the work in to come up with great performance and visual mods for that particular line.
If I had a choice, I would steal the 04' A4 and then try to get deals as I modded away.....
Like any other Audi owner, I think a little prestige goes along with owning an S4 of any year, but personally I'm not a fan of the B5 body style.
Having said that, I've seen some sick B5 S4's before, so anything's possible.
As far as reliability - you're going to have to wait for the B5 / B6 crowd to chime in.

I love my S4... sometimes a little too much for my own good..[&o]
so if reliability is youre main concern... get a newer car w/ a good warranty.
I once read in an article -
"No B5S4 owner is ever tuly & completely happy with how their S4 is running at the moment"
or something to that effect
so very very true - yet so very very worth it.
youre not really buying realiability - youre looking at tunability & HP...
as with any car - the major concern would be preventative maintenance & youll be fine...
but it sounds like you want some peace of mind. get a warranty...![Smile](https://www.audiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
