2003 A4 1.8T tranny failure
New to the forum, didn't find anything related so.... Anyone familiar with automatic tranny failures in 2003 A4 1.8T's? At around 56k miles, the trans intermittently began failing, wouldn't transmit power to wheels. Dealer says failed, not software. My question - is this failure really rare (I would think the tranny would last much longer)? Shouldn't I expect the replacement to last better than the OEM? THX
P.S. My "other" car is a 1990 Honda Civic SI with nearly 300k miles on almost all original equipment. Guess I'm spoiled.

It's not a failure. I had the same thing happen to me.
STEALership wanted 8 grand for a new tranny, turned out it was a 100 speed input sensor and a ATF fluid/filter change. I also had the TCM chip reset with VAG-COM and now its perfect.

i have the same car with 65k, and all the mods listed below without any problems,,,,, yet.....
if your goign to be doing any mods to it, now would prob be the time to look at a Level 10 Performance tranny upgrade.
