2002 A4 1.8T Quattro frozen ebrake

Default 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro frozen ebrake

I woke up this morning and got into my car and the right rear ebrake was frozen, my mechanic opened it up and told me not to use it until it "thaws" any of this happen to anyone

sure it happens to lots of people. Either there is water in the ebrak cable sleves and the cable gets frozen inside, or more commonly the piston in the caliper gets froze. You shouldnt use your ebrake when its really cold outside if you dont have to.

any way to get rid of that? cuz right now i'm kinda stuck w/ my right rear brake on? do i ahve to get under the car and release it manually?

take a blow dryer to it. I had the same problem on my ranger, but I tried to force it open by driving with it and crushed all the brake parts into a powder. Just let it thaw.

You could unclip the ebrake from the caliper if its a frozen cable issue. I would try pumping your brakes with button pushed in on ebrake for releasebefore that though-sometimes works (with engine running)
