Gonna be a newbie Audi owner, but can't decide between 01 and 03. Other than the body style are there any main pros and cons that would make a better year?Been looking for direct comparisons but can't find any yet, still looking though. Want to get as my DD down before I buy, but i'm on a super short schedule to get one. ( my suv was totalled after ahit and runand the rental car ends real soon) Any thoughts would really be appreciated.

01 a4 1.8t auto 65k $12k
03 a4 1.8t manual 51k $16k

 

engine is the same. the 03 is a bit heavier than the 01. some say the 03's(B6) interior is nicer than the 01's(B5). but that is where you get into more of a to each their own area..

are you planning on modding? i would go with the manual just for that fact. and im more partial to the B5s..

as of late, there is beginning to be a lot more love from the aftermarket community for the B6's over the B5's

I prbly will mod it, since i have a couple buddies who have had that done. I think youre right that maybe it just comes down to the look. I like both, but the B6 def has a sick look to it imo. I guess i'm just nervous because they aren't coming from actual audi dealerships....the older one just got the timing belt and turbo done which is making me lean towards that one. the newer one just has less miles and seems to ride a lot smoother.

id get da b6... who cares bout da new turbo... dat jus means it might have otha problems. it comes down 2 personal preference. do wat u will

Obviously the 01 is the better car........but, if you have the cash, go for the B6... Newer car, but a bit heavy, but maybe better features.....

 

All audis are a "bit" heavy ^^
