2001 A4 stuttering after dead battery
Hello all,
I accidentally bumped the dome light on after getting home from work one night and I didn't get to it until 24 hours later when the battery after the battery was dead.
After charging it up, the car started fine and seemingly ran like before, but it sometimes stutters/misfires sometimes when trying to accelerate.
This is going on for the 3rd day now and the car was running great before the dead battery.
I read on some forum that turning the key to the 'On' position (not starting it up) and it'll tick and hum. Once the ticking stops (2 min or so) it fires right up and will be fine again for a short drive (accelerating is fine). I have NO idea if this is actually doing anything, but I have to do this every time to get it to stop stuttering on acceleration.
I had my battery changed before at a local non-Audi garage a couple years ago. I had the same issue then and when I brought it back in they said I needed a vacuum hose replaced. I'm starting to think that whatever settings were lost when the battery was disconnected/dead caused both of these issues. I would rather not have to bring it in just to have something 'replaced' unnecessarily.
Anyone have any idea what is going on and/or what I can do to fix this?
Thank you in advance!
