2000 A6 or 2001 A4?
I just moved to the US form a foreign country and I have been looking at the Audi used cars for several weeks and there are two which I am interested in.
One is a 2000 A6 2.8 AWD with 108K miles on it. The timing belt need to be changed and the ABS light is on. The maintainence is not good, the guy changed the oil every 12000 miles! The price is $8200. I called Audi dealer and they also told me some other small problems with this car. They said it will cost about $3000 to get all the problem fixed.
The other one is a 2001 A4 1.8T AWD with 74K miles on it. The price is 11K but when I test drive it, it sounds noisy especially when I stop the car. I do not know what is the problem and how much will it cost to fix it. The owner said she asked it always sounds like that and the mechanic said it is OK. But I think the maintainence for this car is OK. She used the synthetic oil and changed the oil every 10000 miles.
I really do not know which one should I buy. Do you guys have any suggestion? I really appreciate your help!

My .02, if the A6 has bad maintance record it's most likely been mistreated all together which means you'll spend more $$$$ fixing the car then enjoying it. Go with the A4 and get the timing belt, tensioner, water pump.... changed. (if it has to be one of the two you've found)

def. keep lookin around, yea thats cheap for the a6 but if the car was neglected for so long ur just going to end up spending alot of money in the long run, a4's are all over the place so just keep looking and im sure you will find something good
