Hello everyone,

I recently posted a topic about a slow oil leak I've been having. It turns out that it is a valve-cover gasket and my Audi-BMW-Mercedes-Porsche mechanic said he could do both for $270. Does that sound like a decent price?

Also, next week I'm going to Europe for a month and I'm parking my car in our garage. Are there any precautions I should take since the car won't be started for a month?

I don't know about the price on the gasket change but for your trip I would definetly disconnect the battery and if possible have somebody start it up once a week.

 

No one will be able to start it...

 

get the radio code before disconecting the battery!!! make sure u do

 

I have the radio code...I'm not very familiar with car mechanics but why does the battery need to be disconnected?

 

Buy some gas supplement for storage. Buy a low amp floating/trickle charger (1 amp). The rest will be fine.

 

$270.00 is high IMO. if you have any mechanical skills DIY

gaskets would be around $50-70 tops i would guess
