Default 2.8 turbo, it can be done...

...im hoping, me and my friend, whos a machinist are doing are homework and have come to the conclusion to make a custom turbo manifold for my 12v 2.8. we have acces to all the materials and tools we'll need, and then ill be purchesing the turbo. As far as im concernd it can be done? if anyone has any further imput, please speak out.
Yet i am doing this more for the sake of doing...not just to make my car faster, so please dont argue about if its worth it or not, or tell me i shoulda just got a 1.8t.

when i do get it done, however long it may be ill be sure to post pics.

Umm, you know that you have two manifolds, so it's going to be tricky trying to fit one turbo to that. Plus, the 2,7 engine is essentially the same engine as the 2,8 but with thicker cylinder walls to handle the added HP and pressures associated with boost. And don't forget the custom ECU programming. It's going to be much much more than just making a manifold and buying a turbo and hoping it all goes together.

10 bucks says this one will never get finished either.. people have started this project countless times in the past

the only one to be successful, was on a passat

The turbo and manifold are not the issue for this project. Its the timing/ecu. The 2.8s come with a hitachi ECU which cannot be upgraded, EVER. The only way to make this work (correctly) is with stand alone engine management i.e. megasquirt. You will need to spend countless hours figuring out the correct timing and could risk serious damage to your car while doing so. If this is your DD and you cant afford to get a new car if something happens, I would highly recommend against trying.

Get a stock 2.7t one, & put it on.

If you want to do it cheap, get an adjustable FPR & a wideband. Between that & Lemi you should be able to tune it around 75%.
