1st gear sound..
Sorry guys, I know diagnosing sounds over the net is hard...but maybe some of you have heard of/have the same deal. When I'm starting from a stop...put it in first and go, at about 1500 rpm, I hear a slight churning sound for a fraction of a second..(like a quiet teeth grinding). Any idea what this is?
BTW, on the subject of sounds...when I start my car up after it has not been on for a longer period of time (hour +) I hear a sound as if water is flowing through piping...sort of a wish-washing sound. Sounds like its coming towards the rear of the car. No performance issues on either sound, just wondering whats going on. What do you guys think?

the water sound is just gas,, no worries. I think they all do it. I believe it's aiin the return line .
As for the tranny, mine is really tight in the mornin. I'm thinkin of changin my fluid this weekend. But I would guess on Syncros. mine hiss a little bit

the teeth griding this is a common problem ive had the same probelem and some guys on here helped me out. our cars had a ton of protective metal plates everywhere. if these plates move a fraction of an inch they will rub agianst somthing causing a "teeth grinding" sound.

graffix is right on. the flowing water sound is just your gas (you gas tank is shaped like an upside-down 'U' because of the quattro driveline, so it has to draw the fuel from one side of the tank to the other.
the grinding problem sounds to me like a synchro going bad

I am probably just overreacting and being paranoid about the little churn I hear. It really doesnt sound like a grind at all, its more of a slight rub for a fraction of a second. I'm not gonna trip too hard over it right now.
