Default 1st gear going any speed?

Are you supposed to be able to shift into 1st gear going any speed or is there some type of limiter that makes it so you can only shift into 1st when you are going slow or stopped?

I think they make the synchronizer gear a little smaller so its harder to engage 1st to prevent you from blowing up your engine. A limiter? i don't see how they can put a limiter in an all mechanical transmission that you control.

+1 you should have to push it pretty hard to get it into first.. what are you doing putting it into first anyway at any speed? There is the rev limiter but that wont really do anything if your shifting into first going way to fast for first gear, you will overrev and bend all ur valves

The same should apply to reverse gear I think.

If you can't put in first after you hit 90mph, try throwing it in reverse.

if all fails just rev your motor up to redline for about 5 minutes, then you should be good!
