RE: 1999 Audi A4 possible engine problem
They detected a misfire in cylinder 1. He said to have the wires and plugs checked, if not those, check the injectors. So.. I have it stored in a garage until friday when I can have audi look at it. But thanks for all the heads up Also.. was curious, I've searched a lil bit.. and havent found TOO much, but is there a way I can just throw a cone filter on the current setup without having to mess with the MAF too much?

The mechanic you have looking at your car is an idiot, you need an ICM or power output stage.
You can get one at www.ecstuning.com, if you wanna know what it looks like its sitting right on top of your air box.

A bad ECTS wont cause a misfire.
If your CEL was flashing Ill bet my right, no wait, LEFT nut its either your ICM or a coil pack(s).
Get your ecu scanned and post the codes.

To address your cone filter question, yes you can. Just buy a setup off eBay for around $40 or so and it bolts right up. There is one hose that is plumbed into the airbox that won't have a provision on the new intake - just put a breather filter (small cone-intake-looking filter at Autozone, near the V8 chrome dressup stuff, costs about $10) on it, and you're good to go.

LOL yall are gonna laff at me cuz im soo noob with audi yet, but explain to me what an ICM or power output stage stuff is?? I'm trying to do stuff I can handle by myself so I dont have to pay Audi 120 an hour lol..
also, by changing out the coilpacks, I mean the car is chipped and what not, so is there a certain one I should be looking at? Im looking at the ecs store now, but theres like 5-6 different ones. Also, it says they're pretty easy to install so im PRETTY SURE I can handle that.. but, I dont think the previous owner did much maintaince after it was chipped. What else should I check just incase? or.. lol would it be better to just have audi do a tune up??
haha and also, my friend suggested upgrading the diverter valve to the 710N one from the TT with my chip and zaust.. good idea or pointless? I've read that alot of guys went with a performance valve (not the 710) and they ended up exchanging it for the OEM one. But then I also read alot of guys did the 710N from the TT, and they liked it. I guess my question is, do i get another OEM one or go with the 710.. My buddy said he thinks the one I have now is shot.
