RE: 1999 A4 2.8 Will not start
Did you just recently have the timing belt replaced? Did the timing belt go? Perhaps you busted a cylinder head. Just 3 weeks ago I was driving around my 1999 2.8 and I stopped for 10 minutes and when I got back into my car it wouldn't start. I hadn't had any problems driving around prior. Everything seemed fine, it just would not fire. I had to have the car towed to Audi, the timing belt went and had 2 busted heads. They said it was going to be $8K to fix, so I just bought a new car.

Hmm...could be didn't you ask about a rpm shutter problem before?? that could be it. But I would just say open the gas tank and crank the V6 a few times and about the 4 time it should start...then walk out and put the cap back on and run like you stole it

Blackraven, I know this thread is about a year old, but I am desperately looking for a solution to the same issue you described. The only difference is that at both the fuse and fuel pump I am getting 4.17V when the key is at ON, when I crank the engine, it goes to more than 10V, which I suppose is the battery voltage.
I am just wondering if you have solved the problem and if yes, could you share your findings with me.
Thanks.
