1997 A4 1.8T or 1996 A4 Quattro 1.8T
I'm looking at buying an Audi A4
Which would be better 1997 A4 1.8T 137,000kms
or
1996 A4 Quattro 1.8T 70,000kms
Is either of them better to modify or are they basically the same.
I'm thinking of upgrading the turbo and an FMI and whatever I need to go with it, Injectors, upgrade ECU and so on.
Are the two cars as good as each other?
Is it better having the 4WD?

I would opt for the lower mileage A4 myself. AWD is a great feature providing you live in a wet climate. If you live in a desert there really isn't much need for it.

if you plan on doning some upgrade also you will want to be working with a lower milage engine and Quattro will be a advantage and disadvantage for modding it will help with traction this is for sure but you are looking at a few extra hundred pounds that you will be lugging around but if you do life in a area where you get snow and all the rest of the nice weather we get quattro will be to your advantage again in my opinion Quattro is what makes Audi's different from the rest BMW has the there BS awd system that cost $$$$$ and benz has there nice 4 matic system that is so nice that it has been taken off the market twice I would not buy an Audi without it personaly but again I live in Canada and we get a hella lot of snow so Quattro is to my advantage

I'm in Australia BTW. I also found a 1995 Quattro 1.8T with 130,000kms for only $15000AUS
The advantage of the 4WD for me would be better traction on a wet or dirt road, I don't ever go to the snow, it's mostly sunshine and beaches here.
So there are no other disadvantages of the 4WD other than weight?
The Quattro I'm looking at doesn't have leather and the other car does. I really don't think that's a big deal, as on leather you feel the heat and the cold.
Is there anything else I should know and look out for?
