Is the car even attempting to turn over?
LAst year on my 1996 AUDI A4. My car would attempt to start but couldnt finish. I had no clue... took it to a shop. They didnt even know.
Turns out on my 1996 thier was a fuse called 'ENGINE TIMING FUSE" and it was missing. As soon as I put a new fuse in car started. This car sounds like its way more complicated though.
Point is try smaller things before you go searching for "huge" problems.
