question ...do u guys have manual gears?

because i have the same simptons as u described when the vibration kick in. but at the same time i have difficulty in pushing through the gears, hence the techies tell me its the fly wheel and fluid spillng over onto clutch. It makes sense from what they say...but still gonna have the work carried out next week, so will keep you posted.

Same problem here, but on a slighter scale. I have a '99 2.8 tippy, and the only time i get a vibration is at a dead stop with the car in Drive. If i put it into neutral, the vibration goes away.

It's an ever so slight vibration that i can feel in my steering wheel, and my keys in the ignition rattle (annoys me more than anything, and no it's not my bass )

No vibrations felt at speed.....only at a stop.

Mine's an auto with tiptronic. It really sucks that I'm having this problem, I barely had the car for a month now (first payment is due on Monday) and when I got it I was so proud that I was now the owner of an Audi! A fully loaded Audi no less, it even has onstar! This is the first car that I've owned, I came from a dirty 2000 Chevy S10 (ew) that was on its second engine. I love my Audi and I hope nothing too serious is wrong with it.

the sqeaking noise may be the rear pads hopping around in the caliper because their worn or atleast thats the deal with early B5s and thats whats up with my car, no tsure on the newer B5s or B6s.

Find out if your car is chipped. Cause I have the same problem when i'm on the highway around 100 - 130 I put apr on my 2002 a4 1.8t Quattro and according to what i've heard is that the clutch we have isnt strong enough to support the amount of power the chip is causing.

My '04 has a strong vibration when I am in R or D with the brakes fully engaged (at a stop). I haven't really been concerned about it...it's usually because the car revs a little higher when it's first warming up. This vibration goes away once the car is "warmed up."

Ok, so I took my car to CarMax to see if they could fix or at least find the problem. I got a call from them saying that they don't have the tools to do anything with an Audi especially if there is something wrong with the Quattro system. They said that it would be best for me to take it to an Audi dealership (dammit!) instead of having them taking stuff apart looking for something. So I took it down to my nearest Audi dealer about a half hour away and now I might have to wait until Thursday to see if they even found anything. This sucks. What's really weird and good, is that on the way to the dealer my car felt great. There were no vibrations other than those coming from the fixed wheel that I bent when I had my flat, and these are very subtle, the car felt normal. What even better is that I actually got the best mileage yet on the drive over there! My car hit about 28mpg and averaged between 25mpg and 26mpg. The hardly ever reach 23mpg on the highway!

This little incident has also reminded me of why they call it the "stealership" I didn't have to pay dime when I picked my car at CarMax. The invoice did have a figure of $10.50 for their inspection and test drive. The Audi stealership told me upfront about their $105 "diagnostic fee", which I'm pretty sure is just what they call "pulling codes" Luckily, if something is found to be wrong with the car, my CarMax warranty comes to the rescue once more by covering the diagnostic fee as well any covered parts serviced and/or replaced (almost all parts are covered).

So looks like it'll be a couple more days before I even know what the deal is. Sigh. I still love my Audi though.

So the Dealer called back today saying they were unable to find the problem or even reproduce it however, they did recommend a wheel balance/ alignment. They did find a leak on something in the rear differential, dont remember what the service girl said. So hopefully my problem really was just a bad wheel and nothing more.

Guys

(A4 Avant 3.0 Quattro Sport - 2002. Intermitent severe vibration from engine / gearbox area)

as promised i said i would keep you informed with the progress on my car. The car went into the Audi garage and they took out the clutch and flywheel, they confirmed the flywheel/bearing was severley damages/broken which was causing the severe vibrations in the car (usually starts during high speed and carries on whlst driving slowly)

Clutch was ok, general wear and tear, but took the opportunity to replace it. Once flywheel and clutch was replaced the vibrations haddissapearedand no longer showing any sporadic miss-fires, so Coils packs were not replaced.

Car drives superb....Audi hit the nail on the head with this proplem.....You guys may want to explore the same avenue.
