Could be a bad control arm bearing - basically it bangs around loosly in the socket (the socket housing gets stretched over time).
Does it sound only when you run over something or take a turn? Sound like its coming from a wheel?

I took the wheel on and off, the lugnuts seem fine. Do you think I should replace them anyway. That doesn't seem like it would stop the situtation? You think that the wheel is slipping or something? After you replaced your lugnuts did it stop the situation.
