Could be water pump. I would also check your timing belt tensioner. It could be failing or may have already failed - causing the belt to slap around. That happened to me - the car sounded like a diesel engine, but when I hit higher rpm it went away. In any case - this is BAD and if the belt slips off or shreds, your engine is in for a rebuild. If the water pump fails - the belt will also slip or break, so either way you need to get this checked as soon as possible.</P>
Another possibility is the heat shield near the airbox is rattling off something.</P>
By the way - is it a 1.8t or a 2.8?</P>
