Default A4 Power Steering Fault

Until you get it fixed, save some money as follows:
The Audi (and BMW) power steering uses mineral oil. if you have a leak you can safely use common clear mineral oil sold in drugstores for about $6.00 US per liter. The difference is no preservatives.

there is another difference - heat resistant additives prevent breakdown in the actual PS fluid. If you add regular mineral oil you will have to flush the entire system before you add the real stuff. I would never add anything besides the real P/S fluid. Either Audi OEM fluid or Pentosin brand.

Remove the black cover over the P/S reservoir and check the clamps attaching the 2 hoses to the tank - you'll need a flashlight. Thats the normal leaking area when they do form. Many people have fixed this themselves.
