$740 for New Windshield on Cabriolet!!!
Audi A4 2006 Cabriolet, 1.8T
Okay, so I checked on Safelite first... and their quote was about $434 for a new front windshield (plus taxes), including glass and installation labor.
The Audi dealership quoted me $390 over the phone, plus $150 installation (= $540 total).
Hmm... I figured, I get real OEM Audi glass for $100 more? Seemed to be worth the extra, right?
Okay, so my wife drops off the car, signs off on approx $500 total costs, and picks up the car the next day... and what's on the bill? $390 for the windshield, plus $300 installation!
I just finished b*tching about it on the phone, and the service manager at first claimed it was a cabriolet, which makes it more expensive (yeah, sure!).
I did check the price at a different Audi dealership, and they quoted me $175 for labor, and "it doesn't matter whether it's a sedan or convertible."
The outcome of all this is the service manager at least offered me a refund of $120 (+tax), while I hinted about the next convertible we'll buy will be the A5. That's made me feel a little better, but I guess we have to get these quotes in writing, eh???
Gotta drop off the car myself another time... it's no good them seeing a woman drop off the car!
