Yeah man, I just bought a battery last night from Advanced Auto Parts....$70 including the installation!

I didn't need help with the installation, but I had some chick working the counter and decided "what the hell, how many chances will I get to have a moderately attractive chick work on my car for free?" After watching her spendin 5 minutes trying to determine the correct socket to remove the one bolt holding the battery in place, I politely stepped in and was on my way 15 minutes later.

Bonus: I got her number

DO NOT PAY THAT MUCH FOR THE BATTERY!

IMO a $320 battery needs to have a quantum singularity designed by Romulans providing eternal power :P

Typical stealership story. What a joke. They should be regulated by the government. They wouldn't be able to charge those prices if people didn't fall for it though.

Dealers are on the earth for a few reasons:

To have undereducated, annoying, pushy sales idiots try en get you to buy a car..

To put it up you anally anytime you want some basic stuff fixed

/cheer for Car Dealers.

ZOMG! these dealerships are getting more and more ridiculous every year. go to autozone, pick up the parts you need, install them yourself, and save a couple hundred bux. or if you live by me i'll do them for you, with the cheap installation price of a 12-pack

Actually, now that you mention it...this one DOES have a quantum singularity, and it was designed by Romulans...only it was an '06 model (not the new '07) and only guaranteed to last until Armegeddon, not eternity..

Anyone in Houston, TX willing to help me out on a weekend project? I'll up the ante from a 12-pack to a full case of whatever. I'll call around and see if I can find the parts at an auto shop....but since this isn't a truck and I got rid of my jackstands about 10 years ago, I'd be afraid to go it alone in the parking lot of my apartment complex...

You guys need to udnerstand that audi service is different from the rest of the audi dealer. they make their own money and commision off of things they sell.

the dealer i work at charges 135$ an hour.

but 300$ for a new battery plus labor is about right.

Towlie,

I'm in Houston..matter of fact..just got my battery changed out...recall the dealer offering about the same price for the battery change. I've been going to a local shop lately that's been pretty reliable so far...EurocarWerk. Eric over there has been pretty reasonable if I asked him..his shop rates are considerably less than Advantages..which just shot up to like $110+ an hour..crazy.

I've done brakes on my 1973 beetle and 1980 Jetta before..but not on an Audi. I've got a 2002 A4. I'd do the battery myself and get a shop to do the brakes personally. If you do the battery..just remember to get your radio code first.
