The newer 24v's (mkiv) are far better than an older 12v (mkiii), but im sure you can get a 12v for pretty cheap and make it good.
The problem i have seen is that most vr6 guys use t3t4 turbos and not to many gt series. And some company had a customer with a 3.2L TT have them custom make a gt40 kit for him. Ill post the link and see if they have numbers.

Engine core = 24V = $2300US or so.Expect to pay mpre for a 3.2
Oil pan = $350US
Plate + flywheel + starter = $1000US - $1500US
engine mount brackets = $350US
that does include the cost of custom intake manifold and turbo manifold + turbo.
that being said...a simple compression dropping gasket will give you 450whp right off the bat. No 1.8T can do that for the figures i have given you above.Forged rods and pistons put you half way there to the cost of a 3.2 engine

Wow. I have to admit, I didnt know jack about VR6 engines till this thread came along. What an amazing engine. All the modification capabilites of a 4cyl with inline 6 smoothness and power. Incredible. Thanks for the info.

If i had the $25k i wouldnt mind having a a4 with a 24v and a gt4088. Get a good bodied one for $5-7k with **** load of miles.
