Just about to buy. (lava A3 2.0T)

Notice that the car I was waiting for was missing the tilt sensor switch on the drivers side door.

Window still sheet says Anti-Theft with Tilt Sensor.

Ask dealer does it still have the sensor and they tell me they don't know!

Anybody know what is going on with the tilt sensor?

 

Well it is confirmed. A3's are shipping without the auto-Theft Tilt Sensor.

Weird. Did Audi give any explanation.
The tilt sensor is designed to activate the alarm if towed. I thought it was a brilliant feature.

 

Yea, me too. Decided on the car, and had to order the color. I was really surprised when it arrives without the tilt sensor.

Called Audi USA and they confirmed mid production change. (Manual says "if installed"), (Window sheet says Anti-Theft with Tilt sensor)

Dealer appeared to know nothing about it. They couldn't even tell me if the sensor was still there or if the switch was gone. (how do you fix something if you can't tell what's there?) Needless to say, I blew my top.

Almost refused car until somebody came up with a free lojack.

I took the car and now I’m smiling. I love this car.

Well, if I had seen this post I would had refused the order too. It's not such of a big deal but the principle of the issue. The website still shows tilt sensor as standard options and my sticker shows as it was installed.
I have been contacting AUDI customer relations and try to resolve this but it just seem hopeless. The manager even told me that if I look at the ads, it states that AUDI have the rights to make changes to improve the vehicles. That great and all but I never had any ads and the only advertisement I've got was from the website, test drive at my local dealer. Now, I have the car and the sticker shows me I should have tilt sensor, I want the tilt sensor. To top it off, I told them that if they would change the wording on the website I would be happy. But I see no changes as of today....

 

Well you guys got me looking at my new A3 and I DO have a tilt sensor that is operational and functioning properly. The build date on my car is 08/05. Maybe others can post so we can find out when they changed the production specs.

I have a question about the tilt sensor, is it the button that comes next to the trunk and fuel button? and if its that button if its red that means that the car will wound an alarm when its being towed?

 

I have the tilt sensor but I don't know if it works, or how. I have no way of testing it. I did however figure out that the DIY TPMS I installed a month and a half ago works perfectly. I got notified yesterday that my tires were 8 lbs light.
