Standard audio & speakers in A3, aftermarket options?
I'm about to factory order an A3, and I'm debating whether or not to include the "sound package," which apparently adds a BOSE system.
$1350 seems pretty expensive for what you get ... and the Audi website is pretty useless in identifying the change from stock - all it says is BOSE (head unit?), audiopilot and Sirius ... does the sound package add or upgrade the speakers at all? external amplifier? How many speakers does the upgrade pkg add, if any?
I'm considering leaving out the "sound package,
and then later upgrading the oem head unit; so I went to Crutchfield to see what options are available for the '08 Audi A3 - many head units come up, but _all_ of them indicate "modified fit required," which worries me.
Basically, with an aftermarket head unit I'd be looking to add a headunit with AM/FM (RDS), single CD, Sirius (hopefully which could use the oem antenna), possibly HD Radio and an AUX input for ipod.
Was hoping to hear from folks who've already installed an aftermarket head unit - what'd you go with, how easy/hard was it? Thanks!

No highs no lows must be BOSE. I don't think it's worth the extra money. The concert unit that is standard is not bad. Everything aftermarket requires modification - which usually means some crappy looking face plate or black background piece of plastic that goes around the unit you install. Good luck.

Have you heard it? I'm not too fond of Audi's stereo. A professional install will result in better sound, better mp3 support and even HD radio if you're interested. A delete option would be my preferred option.

I'd have to agree. With the price they charge for the BOSE, you'd expect a whole lot more. It would be nice to have a small credit with a full audio system delete. Better money is spent on the outside.
Cheers!
